I remember that back in high school, my freshman homeroom adviser kept on saying that we should avoid belonging to a group of friends with an odd number of members. Why? Because eventually, according to her, one of the members will either be: a. caught in the middle and asked to take sides, or b. feel like an outcast, both causing the friendship to fall apart. But you know, I don’t believe her. And I can proudly tell her that I belong in a barkada of five—where no one ever feels like the odd girl out.
Although our friendship started with our common interest in the UAAP, our connection have gone way beyond our love for basketball. In our almost five years of being together, we’ve had more ups than downs, and we’ve never grown apart even if we rarely see each other. Long-distance friendship at its finest. ;)
Ayee, Mic, Pam, and Ysa, thank you. :) Thank you for being genuinely nice, supportive, wise, funny friends… and for always giving in to my request for a wacky shot. Whenever I recall where we got ‘GFs’ from, I find that everything from that period just seem so distant (well, that’s because it’s been so long). I will forever be grateful to Cheerleading, Geog, and Kas, and I’m sure so are you. ;) xx
